The other 75% of millennials/Gen-Y are really interested in developing their friendships deeply and experiencing as much cool stuff as possible! They are willing to go to work to pay their bills, but they don’t want their careers to get in the way of their friendships and experiences. They are looking to stay at a job as long as it’s interesting to them and as long as they are getting a ton of praise. They are willing to work at a job for a year. Or less. They have no problem with a resume that has five jobs in two years. In fact, I’ve seen 25-year-olds with resumes with more jobs than I’ve had – and I’ve been in the work force three times longer!
Folks who have kids later in life generally have more money to spend on those children, and thus the education bubble grows. The education bubble feels a lot like the housing bubble: it’s based on credit, it keeps growing and a lot of the folks participating don’t have the ability to pay back the money they are borrowing.
A month ago I heard folks talking online about a virtual currency called bitcoin that is untraceable and un-hackable. Folks were using it to buy and sell drugs online, support content they liked and worst of all – gasp! – play poker.
This stands to reason: our nontechnical people are having discussions and debates while Zuckerberg is coding his next feature. This is why no one has been able to keep up with Facebook!
